The 5dbi gain provides enough beamwidth to comfortably mount this patch antenna directly to your goggle-receiver.   We love this antenna and use it for most situations when flying without a ground station, in front of ourselves.  It will improve your range at the expense of some omnidirectional range (flying behind yourself)
